What if my cat is shy or hides from strangers?
Shy cats are absolutely welcome and I will work at their pace, this is why I do not set a time limit on your session. That said, your cat's comfort will always come before getting a photo. If your cat is extremely fearful of strangers and stays hidden, a photography session may not be the best fit.

What happens if I book a session and my cat is just not having it?
Cats have their own agendas and sometimes despite everyone's best efforts, they simply aren't having it that day. If we are unable to create a usable gallery that day, we will try one more time on another day at no additional cost. If on the second try, your cat has made it clear they are not interested in photos, all payments made will be refunded 100%

I also have dogs, can they be included in the session as well?
Of course! While I specialize in cats, I'm happy to grab a couple extra shots of any other pets! That includes fur, scales and feathers!

Can the human family members be included?
Absolutely, but cats will still be the star of the show! People can be a wonderful part of telling your cats story, whether thats a favorite lap or a hand reaching for a scratch. My approach to people is much like my approach to cats, natural and unposed. I do not offer traditional posed family or group portraits. Instead, I focus on the connection between humans and cats

Do I need to clean my house before the session?
oh goodness no! Most of my images are photographed fairly close, with soft blurred backgrounds. That said, parts of your home will show up in the photos, so take a quick look around areas that your cats tends to hang out and tuck away anything you would not want to be seen. No deep cleaning, just a little visual decluttering if needed.

How long till I get to see the photos and how will I receive them?
Typical turnaround time will be 2-3 weeks, if I suspect it may take longer, I will reach out as soon as possible. Once finished, I will email you a private link to go look at and download your gallery.

Do you offer prints?
Your digital photos will be delivered in a large enough format for typical printing, however, I cannot guarantee the quality you will receive. I work with a professional photo lab that will create stunning art prints and wall art (of which I highly recommend metal prints!) I will hold onto the originals of your photo session for at least a year, so let me anytime if you decide you must see your kitties made into beautiful wall art and we will make it happen!

What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my session?
Life happens and I will never hold that against you! If you need to reschedule at anytime, just let me know as soon as possible and we will find another date that works for us. I will do the same for you as life happens on my end too haha! If you need to cancel altogether, that is ok too. Any session fees you have paid will be refunded. No complicated cancellation policies or hoops to jump through. I just ask that you let me know as soon as you can.

How far do you travel?
Travel within approx one hour of downtown Cincinnati is included in session fee. I'm happy to travel a bit farther for additional travel fee. If you are outside my usual area, just reach out and I'll give you the exact cost before booking.

Do you offer End of Life sessions?
Yes. for cats nearing the end of their life due to age or illness, I offer a reduced rate of $75. These sessions are handled with your cats comfort as the absolute priority. Priority will be given for scheduling to get the session done as soon as possible.

Is The Observed Cat LGTBQIA+ friendly?
100% yes! As a proudly queer owned business, we are committed to being a safe and affirming space for the LGTBQIA+ community. Your home, your family, your pronouns will be treated with respect with me.
