I’m a Cincinnati cat photographer, lifelong cat person, professional cat sitter, and current employee of five cats who offer no benefits and very little respect.

Cats have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and somewhere along the way I realized they’re also the subjects I love photographing most. Not because they’re cooperative. They absolutely are not. But because they’re funny, complicated, beautiful little creatures with enormous personalities, and I love catching the moments when all of that comes through.

That’s really what The Observed Cat is about.

I don’t expect your cat to sit nicely, look at the camera, or suddenly develop an interest in modeling. I’d actually prefer they didn’t. I photograph cats in their own homes, where they’re comfortable enough to be themselves. I follow their pace, let them decide how much they want to participate, and spend a lot of time quietly watching.

Sometimes that means beautiful window light and a perfectly timed portrait.

Sometimes it means following a cat under the dining-room table.

Both count.

My goal isn’t just to make a beautiful photograph of your cat. I want to make photographs that feel like your cat. The expressions, habits, favorite spots and tiny bits of personality you know so well.

When I’m not crawling around someone’s floor with a camera, I’m usually cat sitting, making something crafty, birding, wandering through an antique store, or at home with my husband and our five feline supervisors.

The Observed Cat is proudly queer-owned and a safe, affirming space. Your home, your family and the people and animals you love will always be treated with respect.
